Year in Review (2012)

It's that time of year again when us bloggers like to reflect on our style transformation throughout the year. What new trends did we latch on to? What new trends did we hate? Did our style change drastically or pretty much remain the same? I would say mine definitely changed a bit but stayed the same in a lot of ways. Below are a selection of photos illustrating my year in style for 2012.

Jan
Lucky for me there was some vacation time spent in California in 2012 and I realize that maybe I was born to be a California girl. A visit to California also means a visit to Madewell and this time I settled on a classic striped sweater and printed scarf.

Feb
This year I traded in my toque for a floppy hat as the typical Canadian winter was practically M.I.A.

March
The top knot becomes my hairdo of choice on dirty hair days, I acquire my first Rebecca Minkoff bag, and I have a love affair with leopard print loafers.

April
This year I enjoyed painting my nails regularly and couldn't get away from the "accent nail" trend.

May
I attempt to wear lipstick. This is a big deal.

June
The fascinator becomes a hot accessory for me in the summer as it's required for my friends British themed wedding events.

July
The top knot graduates to a sock bun and I am drawn to bright colours and butterfly prints.

August
At the end of the summer I am experimenting with neon and bright colours for the nails. Mainly because they accentuate the tan.

September
Ankle boots are a must have for fall and I find the perfect pair at Joe Fresh.

October
Finally, some chambray in the closet! And I acquire a thrifted Irish knit sweater from LGs mum - the first, and only, thrifted item in my closet.

November
Heading back to the west coast, I really only needed to pack this outfit: my new favourite pair of skinny jeans, a boyfriend style t-shirt, and a blazer. Oh, and of course a printed scarf.

December
By this time the coloured denim trend has been around for a while but I finally jump on the bandwagon and purchase a pair of red pants. I really don't know what took me so long because I absolutely love them!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas and all the best in 2013! xo

  2. Merry Christmas! I remember all of these - it was a nice trip down memory lane :) Those Joe Fresh boots never made it to my store - ah well. And seeing your November picture makes me so excited for our spring trip to San Francisco!

  3. Happy holidays, friend! 2012 was obvs a good year as we finally met IRL! ;)

I think the only thing that changed drastically for me was my hair color. Otherwise, 2012 was more of the usual - button downs, boyfriend jeans, blah, blah. Though I did fall in love with nail art this year!
